Part-Time Security Guard REPORTS TO:
Director of Library Operations POSITION
Summary:
The part-time security guard will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises during designated shifts.
This position requires the ability to open and close the building, monitor access points, respond to security incidents, provide quality customer service, and adhere to established protocols.
The ideal candidate should possess strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle various security-related tasks.
KEY
Responsibilities:
1.
Opening and Closing Duties:
a.
Arrive on time for scheduled shifts to open or close the building as required.
b.
Conduct thorough inspections of the premises during opening and closing procedures.
c.
Ensure all entry and exits points are secured and properly monitored.
2.
Access Control:
a.
Monitor and control access to the building, including greeting patrons, checking in vendors, and establishing a visible security presence throughout the building.
b.
Enforce access policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment.
3.
Surveillance and Monitoring:
a.
Utilize surveillance equipment to monitor the premises for suspicious activities.
b.
Conduct regular patrols to visually inspect the building and surrounding areas.
c.
Report any unusual incidents or security breaches promptly.
4.
Emergency Response:
a.
Respond to alarms, emergencies, or other security-related incidents in a calm and efficient manner.
b.
Coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
5.
Communication:
a.
Maintain effective communication with other security personnel, management, and relevant stakeholders.
b.
Document and report incidents, observations, and activities accurately.
6.
Customer Service:
a.
Provide excellent customer service to employees, visitors, and guests.
b.
Address inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
7.
Compliance:
a.
Adhere to all security policies, procedures, and regulations.
b.
Stay updated on security best practices and industry trends.
8.
Maintenance:
a.
Provide support as needed for to maintenance a clean and safe facility, such as salting sidewalks and addressing messes or emergencies in the absence of other maintenance staff.
b.
Occasionally provide support by moving furniture / items to set up or reset after programs.
9.
Willingness to help in any other daily operations necessary to the successful running of the library.
10.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1.
Previous experience in security-related roles is preferred.
2.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3.
Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
4.
Basic knowledge of security systems and equipment.
5.
Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols and respond to emergencies.
6.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Strength and movement requirements Considerable walking in the work area Ability to lift or move 50 pounds Occasional crouching (bending of the knees) Stooping (bending at the waist) and reaching 2.
